STA (Short Term Accommodation)
Planning & Support
The NDIS funds ‘Short-Term Accommodation and Assistance’ (STA) under the Core Support category ‘Assistance with Daily Living’ (Category 1).
STA is a way of providing respite care that allows both you and your carer to have a break or a change of scenery and also allows you to experience living away from home in a supportive environment for short periods of time.
STA funding covers the cost of your care in another place for up to 14 days at a time, or for the duration noted in your plan. STA funding is not just limited to accommodation however; STA funding includes all basic expenses in a 24hr period including assistance with self-care, community access activities, accommodation, food and other negotiated activities.
At Tailored 2U Support, we support NDIS and self managed participants to create their own STA experience so they have full choice and control over how they use their STA funding. Whether you are planning to use your STA funding for respite, when your usual caregiver is unavailable or to explore new experiences that will help you achieve your goals - we’re here to help.
Our experienced support workers are here to guide you on how to make the most of your STA funding and enjoy your time away from home. Whether you need help choosing a destination, arranging accommodation or planning activities, we will support you in planning the STA experience that works best for you and meets your specific needs.
Don’t have STA funding in your plan? You can choose to utilize some of your Core Supports funding to access STA, although you do need to ensure you have sufficient funding for the period of your plan and that the STA will help you to pursue your long term goals.
This might be something like increasing your independence or building your skills, which may also result in carers having a break.
